As stunning as her mom. Iman shared a rare photo of her daughter, Alexandria “Lexi” Zahra Jones, whom she shared with late husband David Bowie, in honor of the teen’s 16th birthday — and she’s so grown-up!
In the snap, Lexi shows off her flawless complexion and gives the camera a sultry stare, proving she has a flair for modeling. “Happy sweet 16th birthday to my baby girl Lexi! Stay sweet ‘Classy with a hint of sassy’ #selfportrait #LexiLove,” the supermodel, 61, captioned the black-and-white pic on Monday, August 15.
A birthday message for the teen was also posted to her late father’s Instagram account on Monday. “HAPPY SIXTEENTH BIRTHDAY TO LEXI ‘Fill your heart with love today, Don’t play the game of time…’ We’re sure you will all want to join us in wishing many happy returns of the day to Alexandria Zahra Jones on her 16th birthday,” the caption reads.
Iman and Lexi have stayed out of the public eye since Bowie passed away at age 69 on January 10 after a long, private battle with cancer. At the time, a source told Us Weekly that Iman was putting on a brave face for her youngest daughter. “Iman is torn apart,” the source said. “Iman is staying strong for Lexi.”
According to Bowie’s longtime friend and keyboardist Mike Garson, the “Space Oddity” singer became ultraprivate in his last decade to focus on raising his daughter. “Three-quarters through the Reality tour, he said, ‘You know, Mike, after this tour, I’m just going to be a father and live a normal life,’” Garson told Rolling Stone in January. “And I’m going to be there for Lexi while she grows up. I missed it the first time.’” (Bowie was referring to his son, Duncan, from his first marriage to Angie Bowie.)
The HSN fashion designer has another daughter, Zulekha Haywood, from a previous relationship with basketball player Spencer Haywood.
